Load a CSV
Drop an export or open a sample. Taxon reads the shape and finds the event column when it can.
Taxon 2.1 · local-first
Taxon turns a messy Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap, PostHog, GA4, Segment, or warehouse CSV into one clean event list — in the browser. Accept clusters, keep true variants apart, export a pack, then drop next month’s file and see what changed. Nothing uploads for cleaning.
For analytics and agency teams who inherit messy event exports and need a reusable map — without uploading the file.
Buyers buy artifacts. Taxon hands you files you can paste into docs and reuse next month.
Same ritual every time — load, decide, pack, come back next month. No account. No upload for cleaning.
01
Drop an export or open a sample. Taxon reads the shape and finds the event column when it can.
02
Near-duplicates group together. Accept one canonical name, or keep true variants separate — with a plain “why”.
03
Edit canonicals and notes in Preview pack, then download markdown, JSON, and a reusable map.
04
Drop the new dump against your last pack. See what’s new, still on pack, or silently drifted.
One tab at a time. Everything below is shipped in Taxon 2.1 — not a roadmap.
Pull the same action under one name — without forcing merges that should stay apart.
Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap, PostHog, GA4, Segment / Rudder-ish, and warehouse event lists. Taxon detects the export shape and picks the event column when confidence is high — otherwise it stays honest and lets you choose.
Add to Cart, add_to_cart, and AddToCart land in one cluster when they are really one action. Each cluster shows a plain why line — shared casing, synonym, verb form, phrase rewrite — so you are not guessing.
Accept a single canonical name for the cluster, or mark true variants Keep separate when props or intent differ. Keep-separate choices stick across re-normalize so Taxon does not keep asking the same question.
Near-duplicate property keys get the same cluster treatment on the Properties tab — accept, keep separate, notes — so the property side of the taxonomy does not stay a second mess.
Built for ugly dumps: client prefixes, mixed casing, truncated names, CRM hybrids next to product analytics. Precision over aggressive merges — login stays apart from signup when they should.
Default, SaaS, and Ecommerce synonym packs, plus optional custom token→expansion paste, so your house vocabulary can guide clustering without rewriting the file by hand.
Collision warnings, plain Why? explanations, and explicit map-conflict choices for events and properties when a prior map disagrees with a new cluster.
In-app cards for each dialect plus Messy, Agency, and Props — each with a one-line “what you’ll see” — so you can try the pass before bringing a real export.
Leave with something you can paste into docs — and bring back next time so decisions travel with you.
Not a dead render. Edit canonical event names, alias notes, property canonicals, and keep-separate notes in the tab before you export.
Download stamped markdown + JSON + map — Notion-ready pack text plus a reusable taxon-map.json that carries accepts, keep-separates, and notes.
Export taxon-csv-map.csv from the pack pane (or CLI) for spreadsheet handoff when someone lives in Sheets, not JSON.
Bring a prior pack or map back so accepted names and keep-separate choices return with the next dump — decisions stick by fingerprint in this browser too.
Print or Save-as-PDF from pack preview — chrome hides and canonical / keep-separate / property tables lay out for paper review.
Search canonical names and notes inside Preview pack, with Clear, honest empty states, and / scoped to the open preview.
The second file is the point. Taxon remembers your last pack locally and shows what changed.
On a new dump vs last pack: what’s new, what’s still on pack, and where names silently drifted. Sticky mini counts stay visible while you scroll long cluster lists.
Click the sticky new or drifted count (or use the command palette) to jump straight to the first matching name — same lists as the banner.
Local pack history in this browser. Trend strip across consecutive points, and compare any two history packs — not only the latest pair.
Up to eight local pack snapshots for preview or compare, with a local Clear all when you want a clean slate on this machine.
From the ritual banner, download a markdown + CSV drift report (new / on pack / drifted) for consultant or PM handoff.
Clear messaging when history is empty, you only have one pack, or a selection is stale — no fake charts.
Named maps for multi-client work. Merge two maps without losing the conflicts you still need to judge.
Rename, duplicate, and pin last-used maps. Decisions stay on this device — the library is local storage, not a cloud account.
Move .map.json sets between machines with Export all zip / Import file or zip — still no server round-trip for the files themselves.
Union accepts and keep-separates, flag same raw → different canonical, then prefer Map A, Map B, or Manual pick on conflicts.
Use A/B per conflict, bulk remaining, Apply picks & save. Export/Save stay gated until picks are applied. Sticky bar stays pinned on long conflict lists.
Remaining chip with event/property kind split, Unresolved only filter, Find raw with /, Copy / Download unresolved (events and properties) via More … overflow.
With focus in the panel: a/b pick Map A/B, x clears, j/k move rows, n/N next unresolved, Home/End, Enter to apply when complete, c copy raw — ignored while typing.
Keyboard-first in the tab, same brain on the CLI, and several ways to open a CSV without ever uploading it.
j/k move clusters, a accept, s keep separate, n/N next undecided, u/r undo/redo, w Why?, ? cheat sheet. Batch select with Space / Shift ranges for bulk accept or keep separate.
⌘/Ctrl+K — theme, density, focus, sound, pack diff, Month-N, jump first undecided, set dialect, export CSV map, share Month-N trend, export.
/ focuses cluster search on the active Events or Properties tab. Focus mode trims chrome when you want a quieter decide pass.
Light / Dark / System theme (System follows the OS). Compact / comfortable density beside it. Print stays ink-on-paper.
Dismissible coach marks: load sample → decide → preview pack → manual pick → next dump. Skips when a guided demo is already coaching.
taxon-cli packs CSVs on disk, applies maps, note templates, strict conflict reporting, CSV map export, and maps unresolved for merge leftovers — matching the tab’s rules.
Install as a PWA and Open with from Finder/Explorer, drag onto the app or open.html, or use the bookmarklet deep-link. Files never leave the device on these paths.
Undo toast labels the action; bulk decides collapse to one undo entry and never fuse across keep-separate. Pack edits undo while preview is open.
Cleaning never uploads your CSV. Taxon runs in the browser (or as a local CLI). We only count anonymous page views — not file contents. Maps and Month-N history live in this browser until you export them.
Guided pass on a sample, or open Taxon and drop your own CSV. Worked example if you want the story first.
